A Pine Bluff man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 530 Wednesday night, marking the second fatality on that highway since Sunday.


According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Edward E. Farver, 45, was northbound near exit 42 when the 1996 Chevrolet he was driving struck the rear of a 2014 Buick that was also northbound. After the collision, the Chevrolet left the roadway and struck a tree.


Farver was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Maggie Shell-Howsen at 7:40 p.m. Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock for an autopsy.


The preliminary report indicated that another person was injured but did not indicate if that person was hospitalized.


On Sunday, Destiny Jones, 21, of Gould was killed when the vehicle she was riding in collided with another vehicle while both were traveling southbound near Exit 44. The vehicle she was in left the roadway and overturned several times, ejecting Jones.


Both crashes are still under investigation.


So far this year, there have been 459 accidents on the state’s highways.
