Born to Joe and Elnora Brasfield, Jerry Brasfield was born on June 20, 1917 , the second of five children.

He was preceded in by his lovely wife, Perlina Leach Brasfield, who he married on May 27, 1939; seven children: Joe Brasfield, John Brasfield, Bobby Brasfield, Savannah Moore, Carolyn Brasfield, Debra Brasfield, and Brenda Brasfield; one brother, and four sisters.

Jerry Brasfield dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at Stephens M.B.C. and later rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Rev. G.L. Ford. He had a passion for hunting and fishing.

He leaves to cherish his memory nine children: Jerry Brasfield, Jr., Curtis Brasfield, Dennis Brasfield, Billy Brasfield, Pearlie Boyland, Clidy Coleman, Patricia Watkins, Oretha Munn, Bonda Brasfield, and Lenda Moore; 72 grandchildren, 143 great grandchildren, 92 great great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5 - 7 pm at New Home Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:30 am at Mt. Moriah M.B.C. in Dumas, Ark.

Charles Rodgers

STAR CITY – Charles Rodgers, 68 of Star City died Tuesday at Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village. He was born July 16, 1949 in Pine Bluff to the late W.A. and Lucy Ferguson Rodgers. He was a child of God, being a member of First Baptist Church in Star City and was a retired truck driver for Wal Mart. He was a member of Oak Grove Hunting Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Also preceding him in death was a brother-in-law, Ken Peebles.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Suzanne Rodgers Peebles of Conway and Lynne (Les) Rodgers Alder of Tarry; nephews, Kenneth, Jason (Stacye) and Alex; nieces, Hannah and Lindley; great-nephews, Evan and Izayah and great-niece, Zoe.

Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Shell Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jefferson County with Bro. Roger Glover and Bro. Jarrod Pettit officiating. Burial at Shell Chapel Cemetery. The family will be at 542 Becket Rd., Star City.

Sharon Denise Hence- Calloway 53, of Pine Bluff passed December 4, 2017. Sharon graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1982 in Pine Bluff, Ark. She furthered her education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Order of Eastern Star.

Mr. Chester Price, 90, of Pine Bluff, passed away on November 30, 2017. He was born April 10, 1927 to the late Herbert and Mary Price in Pine Bluff.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife ,of 67 years, Bessie Price, three daughters- Jo Ann Joshua (Raymond), Schenetta White, and Leah Ceaser (David); seven sons- Edwin Price, Ricky Price (Laverne), Vincent Price (Debra), Gene Price (Juanita), Pete Price (Janine), Stephen Price (Latasha), and Darrell Price (Cassandra); one brother Eddie Price, 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Eddie Talbot, Jr., 30, of Pine Bluff passed November 28, 2017. Born Januray 25, 1987 to Beverly Jackson and Eddie Talbot, Sr. in Pine Bluff.

Survivors include his fgather, Eddie Talbot, Sr., mother, Beverly Jackson; brothers: Tamario Washington and Triston Jackson of Pine Bluff; sisters: Keandra Washington, Lakeisha Brock, Chante Brock, and Angela Bailey all of Little Rock, and Elizabeth Jackson of Pine Bluff.

Funeral Services will be Saturday at 11 am at The Church of the Living God, located at 3120 Gravel Pit Rd., by Rev. Theodis Edwards, Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Henson-Holcomb Mortuary.

Edith Studdard

Edith Vivian Green Studdard, 95 of Pine Bluff, passed away, Thursday, December 7, 2017.

Born February 25, 1922 in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Ivory Vincent Green and Lela Mae Taylor Green.

A 1941 graduate of Watson Chapel High, Mrs. Studdard was a homemaker and attended Hawley United Methodist Church.

Her pastimes included genealogy and spoiling grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband over more than 50 years, Horace Wilson “Pete” Studdard; and a brother, Veo Green.

Mrs. Studdard is survived by her children, David Studdard and wife Betty and Edith Spharler and husband Delmon; brother, Vernon Green (Bennie Jean); grandchildren, David Studdard, Amy Cowden (Keith), Marcie Hamblin (James) and Sharon Simpson; great-grandchildren, Coy Simpson, Tyler Simpson, Dakota Studdard, Laura Studdard, Kimberly Gould, Lauren Paschal, Christine Paschal, Katheryn Cowden, Callie Cowden, Citouri Hamblin, Aurora Hamblin, Gunner Hamblin, Oakleigh Hamblin and Avery Hamblin; great-great-grandson, Kristopher Charles Gould III; and many other loving family and friends.

The family will host a celebration of Mrs. Studdard’s life Saturday, December 9th, 10 a.m. at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church at Grapevine.
