Gareth Hyndman became the new chief of contracting at Pine Bluff Arsenal earlier this year, according to a news release.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona., he was active duty with the U.S. Army in 1991 during the first Gulf War and attended the Defense Language Institute, learning Korean. He has a Juris Doctorate in Law from Western State University – Irvine, California., a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University.
Hyndman comes to the Arsenal from Naples, Italy, where he was a realty specialist providing acquisition and contract management in support of the U.S. Navy.
Hyndman said that he and his family were in Italy for two-and-a-half years, working for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. His job was doing real property acquisitions and acquiring housing for the Navy.
This is Hyndman’s first experience working on a working capital fund installation and his first supervisory position.
“This is all new to me. I have a lot to learn,” he said. “It is a challenge but a great opportunity. I just need to learn to balance it all.”
