A 58-year-old man was struck by several vehicles on Olive Street Tuesday night and later died from his injuries.

According to a news release from the Pine Bluff Police Department, at about 5:20 p.m. officers responded to the area of 23rd Avenue and Olive Street and found Frederick Rice in the north-bound lanes of traffic.

He was transported to the emergency room of JRMC, where he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses reported that Rice was struck by three vehicles during the incident, according to police. The first two left the scene, but the third stopped, and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

No charges are expected against the third driver, police said.

At the time of the collision, it was dark and during a period of heavy rain, police said.

“The initial investigation indicates that a white passenger car may have been one of the two who fled the scene,” the news release said.
