The Pine Bluff Zebras fell short in the last few seconds of the game to the McGehee Owls Wednesday night by a score of 58-57 in the Zebras Christmas Classic.

McGehee scored the first four points of the game after two baskets from DeWayne Railey.

Pine Bluff went on an 8-0 run to take the lead behind five points from Kaleb Higgins during the run.

McGehee would retake the lead after a layup from Zac Henry and a three-pointer made by Armand Winston. The Owls later ended the quarter outscoring the Zebras 9-2 to hold a 13-10 lead heading into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, both teams traded baskets, but the Owls held a 25-23 lead at halftime.

With McGehee leading 33-26 midway through the third quarter, The Zebras went on a 15-5 run to take a 41-38 lead over the owls.

Higgins scored 10 of those points during the run, while Kaezron Washington and Jyrimee Thompson added three and two points, respectively.

Railey scored two points for McGehee before Higgins was fouled on a three-point attempt for three made free throws to put the Zebras ahead 44-40 heading into the fourth quarter.

McGehee tied the game at 46-46 in the fourth quarter after four points from Javier Robinson and a layup from Winston.

On the following two possessions, a layup from Darius Morris and Thompson gave the Zebras the lead once again by a score of 50-46.

With McGehee and Pine Bluff trading baskets towards the end of the game, the game ended up tied at 55-55 with under a minute left in the game.

Thompson drove the ball inside for a tough layup and gave the Zebras the lead with under 10 seconds left in the game.

However, McGehee quickly advance the ball down court, and Winston knocked a three-pointer to win the game for the Owls.

The Zebras were led by Higgins, who finished wih a game-high of 22 points. Washington and Thompson both added nine points a piece.

For McGehee, Henry led the way with 12 points, while Railey contributed with 11 points.
