New Year’s eve/watch meetings


Canaan Christian Center, 7890 Middle Warren Road, and the apostle and pastor, Craig and Sheryl Banks, will present a New Year’s Eve celebration at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The community is invited to join them.


Old Morning Star Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will host watch meeting at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, along with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer and Wade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Star City. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Royce Jackson.


Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will host the united watch service at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, along with Free Gift and St. Harmony churches. The sermon will be by the Rev. Rodrick Sowers.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., will host its annual fellowship watch meeting at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. Guests include Zion and Eternal Life churches. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Andrew N. Ellis, associate minister at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will present its annual watch meeting at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The guest speakers will be the Rev. Ralph Love, associate minister at Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, and the Rev. Stephen Liddell, A Son of Thunder associate minister.


New Beginnings Baptist Church, 8826 Old Warren Road, will sponsor a New Year’s Eve service starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. Guest singers will be Southern Grace from El Dorado, along with others. Refreshments will be served.


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will have its watch meeting service at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The speaker will be the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Valliant Jr.


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will present its watch meeting fellowship at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, along with Pleasant View Ministries and Judah Restoration Worship Center. Speakers will be the bishop, Esau Watson Jr. of Judah Restoration; the Rev. William Shaw Jr., pastor of Pleasant View; and New Community’s apostle, Patrick Lockett.


Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will hold its watch meeting service at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Omar Davis, pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.


Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will host watch night service at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31st. Guest pastors will be the Rev. Richard Hart of St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. Alvin Dunlap Sr. of Grace Evangelical Baptist Church.


House of Bread Deliverance Church, 500 S. Main St., will present its “Pray In the New Year” prayer service at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. All churches, ministries and all others are invited to come help them end 2017 in a healthy, godly, and wholesome way, a spokesman said.


Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will host joint watch night testimonial and worship service at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, along with the AME churches in the Pine Bluff and surrounding areas. The Rev. Cecil L. Williams Jr., pastor of St. John AME Church, will be the guest preacher.


Concerts


Cherry Street AME Zion Church, 800 Cherry St., will host the Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir in its Songs of Praise 64 Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The public is invited to attend this last concert of 2017.


Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave., will host an end-of-the-year gospel explosion at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30. Guests will include the Grace Temple Church Choir, God’s Way Fellowship Choir, Spratt Sisters, Tru Vessels, Lil Vessels, Endure, Highland Choir and the Spiritualettes.


Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will host an evening of praise and worship at 9:30 pm. Sunday, Dec. 31, with Victory Faith’s bishop, K.D. Mixon Sr., and Remnant.


Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church at Little Rock will present male quartet groups, including area singers, at 12:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1. Guests will include the Hunter Brothers, Racy Brothers, Revived, Bishop Kenneth L. Robinson & Chosen, RC Barnes and The Singing Revs. The event is free and open to the public.


Revivals


Oak Grove Central Missionary Baptist Church at Tucker will host the 2017 year end revival at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 29-30. A watch night service will be held at 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The evangelist will be the Rev. Darryl Graydon Sr., pastor of Greater First Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Special events


Word of Faith Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1108 S. Poplar St., will host its family and friends day Sunday, Dec. 31. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 10:45 a.m.


Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will host the annual mission program at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The keynote speaker will be Dorothy Butler of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. Bethany Chapel Mass Choir will sing and the community is invited to attend.


Harbor Oaks restaurant, 1 Harbor Oaks Drive, will co-host the end-of-the-year program of Sold Out For Jesus Ministries at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Harbor Oaks. The program will benefit CASA Women’s Shelter and the guest speaker will be Becky Ferguson, a prophetess, native of El Dorado and resident of Ruston, Louisiana. The event will also feature local and out-of-town guests. Door prizes will be available and admission is free. The community is invited to attend.
