SHERIDAN - Willene Phillips Anderson of Sheridan, Ark. was born August 13, 1937 in the Ain Community of Grant County, Ark., the daughter of the late E.W. “Babe” Phillips and Madge “Cricket” Hester Phillips. She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church in Sheridan and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was best known in the community as co-owner of Crickets Bakery, for many years. There’s no telling how many cakes she used her artistry to decorate, for all occasions. The greatest joy of her life was taking care of her family. She had a huge smile, and loved spending time with them. Whether it was sewing, cooking, babysitting, or just visiting with them, she cherished every moment and every memory.

Ms. Anderson died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Hospice Homecare in Little Rock at the age of 80.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Edward Anderson, Sr.; brothers, Sonny Phillips, Bill Atchley; sisters, Maxine Baker, Wilma Smith, Theresa Phillips, son-in-law, Jason York.

Survivors: sons, Luther “Eddie” Edward Anderson, Jr. and wife Karla of Sheridan, Bryant Clay Anderson and wife Janet of Conway, Adopted son, Paul Mayfield of Sheridan; daughters, Gina and husband Mike Qualls of Maumelle, Melinda Kayleen Neubauer of Hensley, Kristi Anderson of Sheridan; brothers, Fred and wife Betty Phillips of Grapevine, Aubrey and wife Lela Phillips of Bauxite, Charles and wife Diane Phillips of Sheridan; sisters, Audrey and husband Roy Harrington of Sheridan, Mary Jane Jackson of Hot Springs; sisters-in-law, Wanda and husband Bob Cardin of Sheridan, Jean Poye of Hot Springs; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ferrel West officiating. Burial will follow at Phillips Cemetery in Grapevine. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.

Alonzo Parks

Mr. Alonzo Parks, 65, of Gould, Ark. passed away December 25, 2017 at J.R.M.C. Services by Perry Funeral Home.

Willie Perry

Willie Perry was born to the late Tommie and Callie Perry. He graduated from Coleman High School and attended UAPB. He was employed at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 35 years. He married Vivian Coleman October 21, 1995.

He was Baptist.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Vivian Coleman Perry; a son Cornell LaKeith Gardner; two brothers, Odell Perry and Thomas (Alice) Perry; six sisters, Virgie Williams, Shirley McNeary, JoAnn P. Lambert, Louise Perry Locke, Gloria Williamson, and Darlene Perry and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m Friday, at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Otis Walters officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery with services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at the mortuary. Perry will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Iris Owen

MALVERN - Iris Searcy Owen, 104 of Malvern passed away December 21, 2017. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Third Baptist Church of Malvern. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are by Atkinson Funeral Home.

Patricia Willoughby 

ALMA - Patricia Gayle (Hewitt) Willoughby, 80 of Alma, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Fort Smith Ark. Patricia was born June 12, 1937 in Arkadelphia, Ark. to Mr. John and Faye Hewitt. Mrs. Willoughby was raised in Arkadelphia. Patricia worked many years as a secretary for Pine Bluff School District. She was a lifelong animal lover raising dogs and showing her horses in horse shows.

She preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Dean Willoughby, and sister, Rosamond Hubbard.

Mrs. Willoughby is survived by her three nieces, Cynthia Hubbard of Mountainburg, Sandra Hubbard of Little Rock and Sally Hubbard of Little Rock.

Mrs. Willoughby's funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers family request donations are made to First Baptist Church of Alma 211 N. Mountain Grove Rd. Alma, Arkansas 72921.

Jeanette Braswell

LITTLE ROCK - Jeanette Braswell 70, of Little Rock, Ark., departed from this life on December 23, 2017. She was the 6th child of the late Viola and Chester Braswell and was raised in New York City and attended Public Schools there. Jeanette later moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. Jeanette then resided in Little Rock, Ark. until her passing.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Clarence (Shanetta), Darrell and Craig (Latonjia); three siblings, Darlene (Jeanne), Patricia and Jacqueline and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
