The Dollarway Lady Cardinals fell short against the Barton Lady Bears 33-23 on Monday night in conference play.

Turnovers were the Lady Cardinals’ downfall in the game, as Barton took control of Dollarway's mistakes to outscore them in the first quarter 14-4.

The Lady Cardinals took care of the ball a little more in the second quarter and put more points on the board, but Barton held a 21-10 lead at halftime.

Reunna Jones had a solid second half for Dollarway, scoring six of the Lady Cardinals’ 13 second-half points to lead the way.

However, the comeback wouldn't prevail, as the Lady Cardinals suffered another defeat on the season.

For Barton, Kavari Hautman led the way with 10 points.

Jones led the way for Dollarway with seven points.

After a sluggish start, the Dollarway Cardinals fell short in a conference game Monday night against the Barton Bears by a score of 49-42.

The Bears opened up the game with a 6-1 run led by Kyaire Earnest, who had four points, and Jaylon Johnson with two points.

Later in the first quarter, a three pointer from Terrance Brown and a layup from Teon Johnson put the Cardinals back in the game, and they only trailed 8-6.

Barton led after the first quarter 11-8 and started the second quarter on a 9-2 run.

The Cardinals made an attempt to catch up with the Bears, but the Barton continued to push the ball down the court and eventually ended the half holding a 28-16 lead.

After halftime, the Bears scored the first six points of the third quarter to extend their lead to 33-16 as the game started to look out of reach for the Cardinals.

However, Kavarious Lowe knocked down an open three, and Johnson scored five more to spark an 8-0 run.

The Cardinals would later add a pair of free throws to their total, but Barton would score a few more points as well to take a 40-26 lead over Dollarway heading into the fourth quarter.

Johnson scored 14 of Dollarway's 16 fourth quarter points and gave his team life as they came as close as trailing 46-42. However, foul trouble sent Barton to the free throw line to put the game away down the stretch.

Barton was led by Cameron McMurray with 16 points, followed by Bradly Smith with 10 points.

Johnson had a game-high of 28 points to lead the way for the Cardinals.
