The Ivy Center for Education ACT Prep and College Readiness Workshops will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 6-7, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.


The sessions are free and students will eat a healthy snack from 4-4:50 p.m. each day. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Feb. 2.


The ACT workshop facilitators are from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Office of Diversity Affairs Outreach. The college readiness workshops will be presented by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s LIONS (Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students) Program and the Office of Recruitment.


Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 4:30-5 p.m., the UAPB LIONS Program officials will share information on how graduating seniors may become a part of their summer enrichment program. Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 4:30-5 p.m. the UAPB Office of Recruitment representatives will talk to students about scholarships and how they may apply for them.


The next ACT Test will be administered nationwide Saturday, Feb. 10.


“As the signature program of the Ivy Center for Education, students throughout Jefferson County 9th – 12th grades, who display good character are encouraged to attend. Students should bring pencil and paper. Parents are always welcome,” Mattie Collins, Ivy Center president, said in a news release.


Organizers need a head count so that the presenters can print enough material and they can order enough food.
