The Mardi Gras Costume Ball & Contest will be held from 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in The Hotel Hot Springs and Spa Ballroom. Tickets are $60 each or a party of 10 may reserve a table for $600 and receive preferred seating.

The Mardi Gras Costume Ball & Contest is the only fund-raising event of the Hot Springs Jazz Society. Proceeds support year-round educational and concert programming, including scholarships to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello Summer Jazz Camp and free concerts, according to a news release.

“The evening will include music for dancing from Spa City Stompers and Delta Brass Express. There will be a luxurious silent auction, a raffle for a more than two karate diamond ring and the extravagant costume contest this event is becoming well known for with $1,000 in cash prizes,” according to the release.

The Costume Ball & Contest honorees include queens, Stacey Hudgens, Sharon Turrentine, Laura Gehrki, Rosemarie Canterberry, Sunny Evans, and Dorothy Morris, all from Hot Springs. Turrentine is a former queen of the Conroe Louisiana Mardi Gras. Evans is this year’s queen of the Hot Springs Jazz Society Mardi Gras.

Kings are Brad Hudgens, David Turrentine, Brian Gehrki, Charlie Canterberry, Richard Stephens and Gary Simmons, all from Hot Springs.

“The Hot Springs Jazz Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to perpetuating, promoting and preserving Jazz Music, an original American art form. Mardi Gras sponsors include Queen Sunny Evans, Jim Elmore, Relyance Bank, Kathy Parkinson of Parkinson Agency, Marc Hesse, Richard Herrington and many more silent auction contributors,” according to the release.
