With something to offer everybody, Uptown Salon and Boutique had its grand opening and ribbon cutting Friday. The new business is located at 204 S. Main Street.

The salon and boutique is family owned and operated. Jan Robinson and Will Jenkins moved to Pine Bluff three years ago from Oklahoma and purchased their new business building from an auction. The building was previously a doctor’s office and chiropractic clinic. Robinson said that she noticed that Pine Bluff had a lot of barbershops and hair salons, but the city didn’t have anything that was all-inclusive.

The salon and boutique has multiple rooms catering to every pampering need. It is a place where you can get a massage and spend the day, or if you’re having a bridal party, the ladies can come in and get their hair styled as well as makeup, facials, manicures, pedicures, and eyebrows before the event begins. The men can come in and get groomed as well while waiting for the limo to pick everyone up and take them to the event. The new business offers a relaxation room, where you can relax and have a drink along with refreshments. The salon and boutique is the perfect get-away right at home, they said.

The new business has two barbers and two massage therapists already staffed. The business is still looking for a manicurist, pedicurist, and more female stylists. “We are looking for stylists that can service any race. We want this to be a place for everyone to come visit. This is everybody’s place,” said Robinson. Free coffee and drinks are offered at the new business and the owners are welcome to the community stopping by to grab a drink and relax or just to say “hey.”

Manicures, pedicures, women’s hair, massages, aesthetics, threading, eyelashes, waxing, haircuts, and shaves are among the list of services provided at the salon and boutique.

When asked what the new business hopes to accomplish in the city of Pine Bluff, Robinson replied, “I want it to be a place that people learn to love again because it has been so neglected, but it’s going to take more than just people opening shops. It also takes for people to shop at those shops.”

The event attracted a large crowd with citizens and city officials excited about the future of the new business.

“This is a great start to everything that’s happening with Go Forward Pine Bluff and downtown Pine Bluff. We are thrilled to have Jan and Will here and we love them with all our hearts,” said city council member Win Trafford.

“I am thankful for everybody that came out today. This has been a family project and it will continue to be family driven. We want everybody to come, enjoy the services, and bring friends,” said Robinson.
