After losing eight games in a row, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions earned a huge win over the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs by a score of 57-48 on Saturday night.

The Lady Lions jumped out to an early 10-2 lead over the Lady Bulldogs with a couple of baskets from Faith Ohanta and a triple to cap it off by Malaik Muhammad.

After a timeout by Alabama A&M, Lauren McKee scored five unanswered points to help the Lady Bulldogs closed out the opening quarter on an 8-4 run.

With UAPB leading 14-10 to start the second quarter, Mckee made another triple for the Lady Bulldogs that eventually sparked a 10-3 run to go ahead of the Lady Lions 20-17.

Destiny Brewton made a free throw, and Trasity Totten added 4 free throws of her own for the Lady Lions as the outscored Alabama A&M 9-3 in the last few minutes of the first half to take a 26-23 lead at halftime.

Early in the third quarter, Brewton made back-to-back baskets and later Ohanta nailed a triple for UAPB to take a 34-27 lead.

Nygeria Jones made a basket for A&M, and a triple from Deshawna Harper brought the Lady Bulldogs within three points.

The Lady Lions scored four straight points and ended the quarter with a three-point play by Kye Richardson that put UAPB ahead 42-34.

As the fourth quarter had began, both teams traded baskets and the Lady Lions held a 47-44 lead midway through the quarter.

Brewton added five more points to her total to help the Lady Lions outscore Alabama A&M 10-4 in the final minutes to end their losing skid.

Brewton led the way for the Lady Lions with 14 points and Ohanta contributed with 12 points.

Harper led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 and McKee added 10 points.
