The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, a division of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, is offering students free coloring books highlighting sites around the state that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
“Exploring Arkansas’s Wonder: An Adventure in Historic Preservation” includes such properties as the Jacob Wolf House in Norfork, Louisiana Purchase Survey Marker in Lee County and the Rock Art Sites at Petit Jean State Park. Each page includes facts about the properties and other activities for students, according to a news release.
Copies of the coloring book can be ordered at http://www.arkansaspreservation.com/Learn-More/Teaching-Materials/coloring-books or by contacting AHPP Education Outreach Coordinator Amy Milliken at 501-324-9786 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
“The AHPP is the Department of Arkansas Heritage division responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state’s cultural resources. Other divisions are the Arkansas Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, the Old State House Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, the Historic Arkansas Museum and the Arkansas State Archives,” according to a news release.
