St. Peter Catholic Church will host its 24th annual Mardi Gras Ball from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in St. Peter’s family life center at 15th Avenue and Alabama Street. The theme will be Midnight Masquerade XXIV.
Presented by the Altar and Rosary Society, the ball will honor the 2018 Mardi Gras King and Queen Jeff and Barbara Hubanks. The reigning king and queen, Thomas and Linda Ross, will crown the honorees. The Prince and Princess are John and Rose Rice.
All members of the court are being recognized for their years of service to the church and its community programs, according to a news release.
The traditional cuisine of gumbo and King Cake, along with beads, doubloons, medallions, and souvenirs will be available at the affair. Everyone may also participate in the traditional line dance, according to the release.
The Rev. Siprianus Ola Rotok is the pastor of St. Peter’s church. Delores Thomas is the president of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Tickets for the ball are $20 each and are available by contacting Mae Dean Ryles at 534-0725. Proceeds from the Mardi Gras ball will benefit the church’s liturgical and community outreach programs.
