The Highway 15 South Fire Department recently presented the Bill Bolin Award to Leslie Humphrey, community representative at the American Cancer Society, and the Firefighter of the Year Award to Tyran Compton.
Each year, the Highway 15 South Fire Department gives the Bolin award to a person who goes above and beyond in community service. This year, the department honored Humphrey, works the Relay for Life events in six counties raising funds for the Cancer Society, according to a news release.
“She is active with the Make a Wish Foundation, Serves on the board at Ridgway School, has spent years working for the Girl Scouts and is active at Medowview Baptist Church with Vacation Bible School,” according to the release.
Chief Charles Cady of the Highway 15 South Fire Department presented the award during their annual board meeting Feb. 5.
The department also honored Compton with the Firefighter of the Year award. Compton is son of Lt. Randy Compton of the Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department.
