ELLERSON - Veaster Tillmon Sr., age 98 of Ellerson, Ark., passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018. He was a Cotton Farmer in Ellerson, Ark. Retired in 1985, Sherrill-Altheimer School District & Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Wake will be at 6-7 P.M., Friday, February 2 at P K Miller Mortuary.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 3, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant Street, Pine Bluff, Ark. Rev. Daryl Gordon officiating, Pastor of Greater First Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Altheimer Cemetery.

Charlene Burns 

CONWAY - Charlene Atkinson Burns, 87, of Conway, Ark. went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 30, 2018.

Charlene was born February 5, 1930 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to the late Charles and Norma Ellison Atkinson. She attended St. Louis Institute of Music and Washington University in St. Louis. She received a BS in Education (UAM), MS in Education (U of A), and a MS in Psychology (UCA). She worked many years as School Teacher in the music and elementary education field. Charlene married Kenneth Burns on September 1, 1967 and they have been married for 50 years.

Her parents, sister Celia Birdwell, and sister Mildred Kemp preceded her in death.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving husband Kenneth Burns; Daughters: Beth Hays (Jim) of Conway and Nancy Bluerock of Sherman, Texas; Brothers: Curtis Atkinson of Littleton, Colo. and John Atkinson (Catherine) of White Hall; Granddaughters: Laura Deem (Zac) of Little Rock and Sarah Hays of Conway.

Charlene was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Conway. She served as Moderator of Presbyterian Women.

Committal will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff, AR. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at 1st Presbyterian Church, Conway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church, 2400 Prince St, Conway, AR 72034; or to St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326.

Mr. Calvin Edwin Sewell, 48, of Pine Bluff, Ark. passed on Thursday, January 25, 2018. He was born on Friday, September 5, 1969 in McGehee, Ark.

Erma Wood

Mrs. Erma Jean Harlan Wood of Pine Bluff, AR, formerly of Brinkley passed away January 31, 2018 at the age of 84. She was of the Baptist faith. She was born July 29, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, AR to Kye Golden Harlan and Hattie Mae Breeding Harlan. She enjoyed being a wife and mother and loved taking care of her family. Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years, Gerald L. Wood, by her parents, a daughter Robin Harrison Hartsell, two sisters, Geraldine Eades and Eddie Faye Eades, and one brother, Delvin Harlan.

Survivors include, her son and caregiver Tommy Kye Harrison (Sheri), two grandchildren, Kye Harrison (Jennifer) and Terri Harrison Kimbrell (Jason); great-grandchildren, Triston Kye Harrison, Kylie Marie Harrison, Emily Faith Ward and Ella Grace Adams; one brother, Kye Golden Harlan Jr. (Joyce) and one sister, Georgia Harlan Qualls.

Graveside services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark., with Gary Harlan officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Mr. Michael Dewayne Mitchell, 45, of Pine Bluff, AR passed Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born to Fay Mitchell and Harold Jackson on February 22, 1972 in Pine Bluff, Ark. Mike attended Pine Bluff schools and graduated in Pine Bluff High School Class of 1990. He played football and enjoyed all spectator sports.

Mike loves cooking and watching cooking shows to improve his craft. He enjoying preparing scrumptious buffets for his family and friends.

Mike departed his earthly journey on Wednesday, January 24th at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Mitchell; grandmothers, Wilhemena Jackson and Sarah Evonn Dean; grandfather, Earnest Jackson, and great-grandmother Lillie Farris.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Father, Harold Jackson; Fiancee', Genia McGhee; daughter, Alundria Mitchell; son, Jordan Dewayne Mitchell; sister, Dominique Jackson (Detroit), and brother, Theodis Jefferson; six grandchildren; special cousin, Charles Bohannon, special friend, Danny Poole; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Ruby Lee (Turner) Henry, 73 of Pine Bluff, departed this life on January 27, 2018. She was born on January 3, 1945, to the late George Turner Sr. and Catherine Wilson Turner. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Williams, and two brothers, Earnest Turner and Ben Turner.

She is survived by a son, Darrin Kidd Sr., of Pine Bluff, AR; and a daughter, Marian Henry-Nelson, of Memphis, TN; three brothers, George Turner Jr., of Bryant, AR; Samuel Turner (Willastine) of Pine Bluff, AR; and Cleophis Turner (Kay), of Sheridan, AR; five sisters, Rosie Clayton, of Pine Bluff, AR; Sandy Turner, Barbara Turner, and Jeraldine Adams, all of Little Rock, AR; and Mae Grant, of Gulf Breeze, FL; three grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
