Construction crews have been working day and night to ensure that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet will be opening April 2018 at 2901 Olive Street in Pine Bluff. Ollie’s is similar to Big Lots, with over 15 departments to offer customers items, such as books and stationery, automotive accessories and flooring.

According to, Ollie’s “is one of America’s largest retailers of closeout merchandise and excess inventory.”

The outlet will provide “real brands at bargain prices in every department, from housewares to sporting goods to flooring and to food,” according to the company.

“We buy name brand products and sell them for 30-70 percent off fancy store prices,” said Jerry Atland, vice president of Real Estate for Ollie’s.

The first Ollie’s was established 36 years ago in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, by founding fathers Mark Butler, Mort Bernstein, Oliver ‘Ollie’ Rosenberg and Harry Coverman. Since then, Ollie’s has grown and expanded its business to 268 stores in more than 20 states.

“Opening a location in Pine Bluff is a part of the expansion of our business to the South,” Atland said. “We are looking all over Arkansas for potential establishment locations.”

The only other Ollie’s location in Arkansas is in Hot Springs.

Ollie’s offers a loyalty program where customers can receive discounts in the mail and to their emails. Customers will also receive one point for every dollar spent at Ollie’s. Membership is free, and special rewards are earned once many points have been collected.

The company says that anything purchased at Ollie’s is covered by a 30 day “No Hard Time” guarantee.

“If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, return it within 30 days of purchase for a full refund (with sales receipt),” according to the company’s policy.

“Our stores are like a treasure hunt,” Atland said. “You might find something you like today, and it’s gone tomorrow, because we get new products every day. If you see something you like, buy it because when it’s gone, it’s gone.”
