Jefferson Regional Medical Center is participating in American Heart Month to prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, according to a news release.
During February, JRMC will celebrate in various ways such as having the outside of the hospital glow red.
“The JRMC Facilities Department did an amazing job preparing the hospital campus to glow red throughout the entire month of February. So be sure to drive by JRMC in the evening this month,” a spokesman said.
JRMC will also be sharing heart healthy information on the hospital’s Facebook page. JRMC also encourages the community to snap a photo of heart-healthy activities and tag JRMC on Facebook or Instagram (jrmcarkansas). Watch the two social media pages for event information, heart healthy tips and more this month.
“Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America, but the news isn’t all bad,” a spokesman said. “Often, making choices like eating heart-healthy foods and exercising regularly can prevent heart disease. JRMC is encouraging everyone to take the month to assess their heart health, make doctor appointments and put a ‘reset’ on the commitment to living a healthy lifestyle.”
