The Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. For those who want lunch, the cost is $6 and reservations are required.
Speakers will be Patricia Johnson of the Volunteers in Public Schools and Jeanette Lightfoot of the Retired and Senior Volunteers Program.
“All members and guests are encouraged to complete the JCRTA volunteer hours for that enhances the organization’s standing in the community,” according to a news release. “According to RSVP, the value of the volunteer hour is $24.14. This is significant in getting appropriations for nonprofit endeavors.”
Following the luncheon meeting, a short planning session regarding the Wheirda M. Bentley Health Program will convene. Suggestions for health activities and retiree concerns are welcomed.
The theme for the meeting is “Retirees…unpaid workers.” The host will be the information/protective services committee. Princella Gardner is the president of the Retired Teachers Association.
