The Pine Bluff Zebras lost to the Monticello Billies by a score of 6-2 on Monday evening.
The Zebras took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Chris Mack Jr. reached base on an error and later scored on a wild pitch.
Mack Jr. later grounded out to second base, but Chris Blunt Jr. would score to put the Zebras ahead 2-0 in the second inning.
However, in the bottom of the second inning, Monticello would tie the game after Michael Martens flied out to score a run. Phillip Stephenson tripled to score another run to put the game at 2-2.
On the next at-bat, Nick Griffin tripled to score another run, giving the Billies their first lead of the game at 3-2.
Monticello later added two more runs to their total after Martens and Stephenson both singled in a run to extend the Billies’ lead to 5-2 in the fourth inning.
Logan Gilliam would seal the game for Monticello after driving in another run with a single to put his team ahead 6-2.
Multiple pitchers were on the mound for Monticello, with Griffin leading with six strikeouts and allowing no hits and one run.
For Pine Bluff, Mays pitched four innings, allowing six hits and five runs.
Rod Stinson Jr. had the only hit for Pine Bluff, and Mack Jr. added one RBI.
Monticello was led at the plate by Stephenson and Griffin with two hits apiece.
