Senior night didn’t go as planned for the Pine Bluff Fillies as they fell short to the Benton Lady Panthers by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers scored a run in the first inning of the game with an RBI from Rylea Brimhall.
Later in the third inning, Tuesday Melton singled home another run to go ahead of the Fillies 2-0.
Two more runs would score for Benton in the fourth inning after Mackenzie Ailsworth sacrificed a run; Brimhall followed with her second RBI of the game to go ahead of Pine Bluff 4-0.
Pine Bluff gained some momentum after Sierra Johnson powered a ball to the right-field fence for a triple.
On the next at-bat, Ashaunti Stinson singled up the middle to score Johnson and put the Fillies on the board trailing 4-1.
However, Benton would later put the game away in the sixth with a two-RBI double by Brimhall that would extend their lead to 6-1.
Melton earned the win for Benton. She went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out 16.
Courtney Jackson took the loss for Pine Bluff. She allowed 10 hits and six runs over seven innings.
Brimhall led Benton with three hits in four at-bats.
Stinson and Johnson led the Fillies at the plate with one hit apiece.
