The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:


• United Filing Station, 5320 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection April 13. Paper towels needed at hand-washing sink in restroom.


• Duck In and Go, 10501 U.S. 63. Date of inspection April 12. Observed raw beef patties being stored above eggs in refrigerator. Raw beef should be stored below eggs and other ready-to-eat products. Raw beef was moved to the bottom of the refrigerator during inspection.


• Stop-N-Shop, 1100 W. 16th Ave. Date of inspection April 11. All employee drinks in the food preparation area must have lid and a straw. Make sure to label food with date as discussed.


• Chef Lee, 502 Mallard Loop. Date of follow-up inspection April 19. Observed raw meat being stored above vegetables. Raw meat should be stored below vegetables and other ready-to-eat food. Raw meat was moved below ready-to-eat foods during inspection.


• Pine Bluff Country Club, 1100 Country Club Lane. Date of inspection April 19. Observed prepared food held for more than a day being stored in refrigerators with no date marking. Food held for more than 24 hours should be date marked and discarded after 7 days. Food was date marked during inspection. Observed food date marked in walk in refrigerator held for longer than 7 days. Food should be discarded after 7 days if not used. Food held for more than 7 days was discarded during inspection.


• SEARK Food Court, 1900 S. Hazel St. Date of inspection April 16. Some cold-holding temperatures are out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below).


• Stop-N-Shop, 1100 W. 16th Ave. Date of inspection April 11. All employee drinks in the food preparation area must have lid and a straw. Make sure to label food with date as discussed.


• GURSIMAR- LLC, 2401 E. Sixth Ave. Date of follow-up inspection April 25. Hand-washing sink is blocked and should be unblocked so that it is accessible at all times. Hand-washing sink was unblocked during inspection.


• Lakeview Fast Mart Food & Fuel, 100 N. Walnut St. Date of inspection April 24. Opened sugar near microwave should be stored in a sealed container to prevent contamination. Sugar was placed in a container during inspection.


• Pine Bluff Northern League, Townsend Park. Date of inspection April 24. Make sure to keep towels at hand-washing sink.


• Fiesta Mexicona, 3141 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection April 23. Observed food being stored in walk-in cooler and refrigerator uncovered. Food should be covered to prevent contamination. Chemical not dispensing properly to sanitize dishes in automatic dishwasher. Sanitizer was replaced during the inspection.


• Country Kitchen, 4322 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection April 20. Raw hamburger meat observed being stored in reach-in cooler above ready-to-eat foods. Raw meat should be stored below ready-to-eat foods. Raw hamburger meat was moved to the bottom of the cooler during inspection. Food prepared more than 24 hours ago was not date marked. Food held for more than 24 hours should be date marked. Food was date marked during inspection.


• Hazel Street Food Mart, 2201 W. 17th Ave. Date of follow-up inspection April 20. Some cold-holding temperatures are out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below).
