The Pine Bluff Zebras’ season came to an end Tuesday evening after a 3-0 loss to the Jacksonville Titans in the elimination round of the 6A east conference tourney.
One error in the first inning cost the Zebras two defensive runs.
Jacksonville scored three runs in the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead over the Zebras.
Brandon Thomas was on the mound for Pine Bluff to start the game, and after a rough first inning, Thomas finished with three strikeouts while allowing four hits through five innings pitched.
James Wilkes relieved Thomas for one inning, allowing no hits and no runs.
Jacksonville’s Foster Rash had a no-hitter going to start the game before it was broken up by Cameron Crane for the Zebras’ first hit of the game in the fifth inning.
The Zebras seemed to be closing in on a rally during the final inning with Wes Hunt leading off with a single and Chris Mack Jr. reaching base on a walk to get two runners aboard.
However, a fielder’s choice and two strikeouts ended the game, with Jacksonville claiming a victory over Pine Bluff.
Foster finished the game with 10 strikeouts while allowing no runs and two hits on the mound for Jacksonville.
Hunt and Crane both had a hit in the game for the Zebras.
For the Titans, Jonathan Smith had two hits in the game.
