Anniversaries


Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 Indiana St., will celebrate its 13th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. and Mrs. Alvin C. Lowe, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, with a musical honoring the pastor. Guests will include Westside Harmonettes, Mt. Nebo Ensemble and Spiritualettes. At 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, a brunch honoring the first lady, Fleshia Lowe, will feature guest speaker, Yolanda Pitts of Turning Point International Outreach Ministries. On Sunday, May 6, the morning speaker is the Rev. Harold Box, pastor of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church at North Little Rock. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Roosevelt Barnes, pastor of Ash Street Baptist Church at Dermott.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will host the 25th appreciation program of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Amelio P. Howard and Cynthia R. Howard, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. Special guests will be the Rev. Lavara Henry, pastor of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, along with his congregation.


New Fellowship Baptist Church, 3706 S. Cherry St., will observe its 10th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert L. Handley, pastor of Mount Harmony Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will host the 35th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Fred Johnson, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jerry Hayes, pastor of Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will celebrate its 112th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Donald Manning, pastor of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Gould.


Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Vaugine St., will present the 26th anniversary celebration of the pastor, the Rev. Johnny Smith Jr., beginning with the anniversary banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 4. Tickets are $20. The Rev. Leroy Hood, pastor of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Monticello, will be guest speaker. At 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, the featured speaker will be the Rev. G.L. Sanders, pastor of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.


Concerts


St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host the 34th anniversary of Ruby Criss and the Spiritual Gospel Singers at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6. Singers will include the Dixie Wonders of West Helena, Pastoria Singing Union, the Rev. Sammie Smith Jr. and Nu-Begin-N, Stuttgart Harmonizers and Sensational Soul Revivals.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will present the “100 Voice Concert” at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest director will be Jamal Gordon of Indiana Street Baptist Church.


Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the founder’s day services of the Pine Bluff Quartet Union at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6. Guests will include Union Choir, Men In Christ, Mighty True Lights, Nu Image, Faith of Harmony/Christland and Mighty Gospelettes.


Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Altheimer will host a musical benefit program for the Brenda Diane Waters-Lusk Scholarship at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 5. The Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir is the sponsor.


Men’s/women’s services


Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8523 Princeton Pike, will observe its annual women’s day service at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The speaker will be the first lady, Denise Black.


True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The featured speaker will be Merle Bush of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.


New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will host its fifth annual women’s program beginning with its women’s conference from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5. Guest presenters will be Joyce Murry, first lady of Gospel Temple Baptist Church; Ellen Harbin, an evangelist of Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Greenville, Miss.; Benetha Williams, an evangelist; and Shante Graham. Lunch will be served. New Faith will also host its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest speaker will be Barbara Warren, superintendent of Dollarway School District and member of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The choir will be directed by Annetta Jackson of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.


Revivals


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold its annual spring revival at 7 p.m. on the following dates with these speakers: Monday, May 7, the Rev. Anthony Craig of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church; Tuesday, May 8, the Rev. Robert Watson of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; and Wednesday, May 9, the Rev. Derick Easter of New St. Hurricane Baptist Church.


First Trinity Annex Building, 2900 W. Sixth Ave., will host the Recharge revival presented by Veronica Adams, apostle with Veronica Adams Ministries, at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest speaker will be William Franklin. a prophet of Beaumont, Texas, accompanied by his team.


Special events


Bold Pilgrim/Isaac Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at McGehee will install its newly elected pastor, the Rev. Raymond Jenkins Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. C.L. Williams, pastor of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, accompanied by his congregation.


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host guest speaker, the Rev. Joseph Westbrook of New Light Missionary Baptist Church of Little Rock, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, May 6.


The City of Love Outreach & Restoration Church will launch its services at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 6, in the Saracen Room of the Plaza Hotel, 2 Convention Center Drive. The leaders are the pastor and wife, Greg and Valerie Smith.
