In an elimination game of the 6A East Conference tournament, the Pine Bluff Fillies routed the Jacksonville Titans on Thursday evening by a score of 15-4 to earn a spot in the 6A State Tournament.
The Fillies plated eight runs in the first inning behind Amiya Helloms, Amari Washington and Talah Hunter, who all had an RBI in the inning.
Sierra Johnson added a pair of RBI’s in the first inning as well for the Fillies to give them an early 8-0 lead.
Jacksonville would get two runs on the board in the second inning after an error by the Fillies.
However, Pine Bluff continued to have a good day offensively as they continued to add runs throughout the game.
In the third inning, Ashaunti Stinson singled in a pair of runs to extend the Fillies' lead.
After another RBI for Johnson, Courtney Jackson later drove in two runs as well to give the Fillies a commanding 15-2 lead over Jacksonville through three innings of play.
The Titans would score two more runs in the fourth inning, but the damage had been done, and the Fillies came out victorious.
Johnson pitched for Fillies in the win, throwing five innings, allowing five hits and striking out eight batters.
Alex Martin was credited with the loss for Jacksonville but was relieved by Abby Hooper, who finished with two strikeouts while allowing seven hits.
Offensively, the Fillies were led by Johnson with two hits and three RBI’s, followed by Stinson with two hits and two RBI’s.
For Jacksonville, Martin had two hits to lead the way.
