The Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association will conclude its monthly meetings for the academic year 2017-2018 with a breakfast session.


The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. Breakfast will cost $6.


The speaker will be Superintendent Doug Dorris of White Hall School District. The theme of the meeting will be “Fast Forward” and hosted by the membership committee.


“JCRTA extends an invitation to all school district retiring teachers of 2018 to join the local group and also become a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association (ARTA),” according to a news release.


JCRTA Member Lura Campbell of White Hall is president elect of ARTA.


“ARTA is an independent non-profit organization of more than 12,800 retired educators implementing comprehensive leadership and membership programs on a statewide basis.”


At the conclusion of the breakfast meeting, Josephine Adams will lead a memorial expressing remembrance of JCRTA members who died in 2017-2018, according to the release.


JCRTA President Princella Gardner encourages participants to pay membership dues earlier and turn in volunteer hours to enhance the organization’s credit.
