Any donation made to the HOPE Humane Society in Fort Smith through June 30 will be matched by a private donor, according to a news release.

The first $30,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar; after that, the donor matches $2 for every dollar raised. If more than $150,000 is raised, the donor will match $3 for every dollar, and $4 for every dollar raised in excess of $500,000, up to $1 million, the release states.

“This is an incredible opportunity for the animals at HOPE and the community in achieving our goal of becoming no-kill shelter in Arkansas. Thanks to donors like this and our great community, we are making this happen,” HOPE President Sam Terry says in the news release.

HOPE plans to use the money to help with general operations, medical care for animals and its new and expanding transport program. “Every dollar raised will help pets in our community,” Terry said.

“This is a great. We can help more animals and advance our no-kill program," Executive Director Joe Sprague says in the release. "The number of sick and injured animals coming in continues to rise, it is a daily challenge on our budget. This program comes at a much needed time for our animals and helps us meet our mission. I plan on making the first donation to get the program started."
