A Pine Bluff man was found shot to death Saturday morning, and police so far have no suspects or motives. The slaying marks the second one in the city in a week’s time.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Jeremiah Robinson, 29, who was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Jason Duren at 4:30 a.m. Duren listed the cause of death as an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.
Kelley said the body was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy Saturday.
According to a Pine Bluff Police Department news release, officers responded to the area of West 33rd Avenue and Willow Street at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday in response to a report of an abandoned vehicle. When they arrived, they found multiple vehicles had been shot up and Robinson lying in front of 3208 S., Willow St.
The news release said there had been reports of gunshots in the area and close to the area throughout the night before the body was found.
This was the sixth homicide of the year in Pine Bluff. In 2017, 10 homicides had been reported during the first four months of the year and one additional homicide during the month of May.
On Tuesday night, police found the body of Ingram Brooks, 29, lying in the street after they were dispatched to the 2900 block of Carbon Street in response to a report that a person had been shot. Kelley pronounced Brooks dead at the scene and listed the cause of death as an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.
No arrests have been made in that case either and no suspects identified.
