Anniversaries


Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will celebrate the 18th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. and Mrs. James Lee beginning with a musical at 7 p.m. Friday, May 25. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26, a banquet honoring the first lady, Melba Lee, will be held at the Sahara Shrine Temple, 820 S. Main St., Pine Bluff. Willie Laws, pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church at Altheimer, accompanied by his congregation.


Paradise Baptist Church of Grady will celebrate the 22nd appreciation program of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Sylvester and Brenda Kearney, at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. George Toney, pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at Noble Lake and Sixteen Section Baptist Church at Monticello, accompanied by the choir.


Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will celebrate its 129th anniversary/homecoming memorial program at 3 p. m. Sunday, May 27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Charles Nellums, pastor of Greater Macedonia Church at Little Rock.


Concerts


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host the Pastoria Singing Union’s Monthly Worship Service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27.


Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will host the pre-Memorial Day music praise and worship service at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 27. Service will include the Hall Sisters and the Majestic, both of Chicago, Ill.; the Heavenly Hearts, Mighty Gospelettes, A1 Singers of Little Rock and Soul Revivals.


Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will host the anniversary program of the inspirational choir at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Royce Jackson of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas.


Men’s/women’s programs


There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will host 100 Women in Red at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27. The guest speaker will be Roslyn West of Raw House of Deliverance at Greenwood, Miss.


Greater First Missionary Baptist Church will conduct its women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St. The guest speaker will be Melrita Johnson, president/founder of Reform Inc.


Amos Chapel Baptist Church will host its annual men’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 27, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church #2, West 12th Avenue and Poplar Street. The speaker will be the Rev. Robert Willis Jr., pastor of Amos Chapel.


Bethel AME Church at Fountain Hill will host area ministers during the Crossett District Women’s Conference at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26. Speakers include Pamela Brown of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Churches at Star City and Monticello; the Rev. Lanette Frazier of St. Peter AME Church at McGehee; Dr. Felicia Brown, MD, of Shady Grove AME Church at Monticello; and Bridgette Youngblood, an evangelist of Deeper Revelations of Little Rock.


Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will host its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.R. Ramey, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Mitchellville.


Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. 38th Ave., will celebrate its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27. The guest speaker will be he Rev. Learthur Shelton of Open Door Christian Church at Bryant. Special guests will be Men in Black.


Revivals


Amos Chapel Baptist Church will host its summer revival at New Jerusalem Baptist Church #2, West 12th Avenue and Poplar Street, at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, May 30 through June 1. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Leon Williams Sr., pastor of True Vine E Missionary Baptist Church.


Special events


First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will host the installation of Elder Tommy York as pastor of Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at First Trinity and the guest speaker will be Bishop Jewel Withers Jr., prelate of the Arkansas First jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host guest speaker, the Rev. Leroy Edwards of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, May 27.


St. Andrew Missionary Baptist, 5810 W. Malcomb St., will host the ” I Am Tarry,” program at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27. The Rev. Jimmy Polk, pastor of Rankin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Gould, will be the guest speaker. St. Andrew also announced the Tarry Community Cookout will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Tarry Community Park on U.S. 425. Participants are asked to bring a chair and a dish. Tracy Shavers Ministries will present “Set Apart Part II,” a deliverance service, at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Evangelistic Outreach Church and Ministries, 620 L.A. Prexy Davis Drive. The guest minister will be Alan Tate, a prophet.


Greater First Missionary Baptist Church, 509 S. Laurel St., will present Wednesday Night Live at 7 p.m. May 30. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Luther Spratt of Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Singers will include Humble Hearts, Heavenly Hearts and Greater First Choir.


Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will present its annual ushers’ program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday May 27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dennis Wilson, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Holly Grove.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will honor its graduates and honor students during the service at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 27. The speaker will be Cher Fields, a teacher in the Watson Chapel School District and member of The City of Grace Church at Little Rock.
