Pete Commer, Sr., 88, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018.
Born Henry Townsend Commer, Sr. November 13, 1929, at Ferda, Arkansas, he was a son of the late William J. Commer and Isla Baggarly Commer.
Pete was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff and was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School.
Mr. Commer served in the Korean War with the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
He worked for the International Paper Mill as an Accounting Clerk for 37 years.
Pete was a member of Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church where he served on the Pastor Relations Committee. He also coached Little League for BRT and Norton Motors.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Hooker Commer in 1975; brothers, Reverend William “Bill” Commer, Jake B. Commer, I.M. “PeeWee” Commer and Thomas H. “Tommy” Commer; and sister, JoEllen Thomas.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Ann Easterly (Wayne), Henry T. “Towny” Commer, Jr., Karen Sue Lingreen (Rick), Kimberly Jo Scallion (Leon); grandchildren, Stephanie Hayslip (Michael), Stacy Johnson (Jason), Jordan Lingreen, Josh Lingreen, Taylor Lingreen, Haleigh Hudgins (Scott), Hayden Scallion; great grandchildren, Amelia, Ainsley and Jackson Johnson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Tom Smithwick officiating. Interment will follow in Hooker Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson’s.

Sheridan - Zelma Louvene Shirley Kirkpatrick, 85, of Sheridan, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018.
She was born December 27, 1932, in Little Rock, to John Wesley and Lennie Edline Fulmer Shirley.
She received her education from Humphrey High School.
She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and had worked for Sterling Faucet 16 years before retiring in 1990.
She is preceded in death by her husband William “Ed” Kirkpatrick, whom she married on December 23, 1950, in Benton; her parents; sisters, Stella Bohannon, Cora Slaton, Estella Cleverage, Louise Givins, Marie Sinclair; brothers, Oather Shirley and Leonard Shirley.
Survivors include her sons, Paul (Hortense) Kirkpatrick of Rison, Robert (Amy) Kirkpatrick of Sheridan, John Kirkpatrick of Sheridan; daughter, Connie (James) Hackworth of Pine Bluff; sister, Ona Mae Lane of Humphrey; brother, J. W. (June) Shirley of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Barbara Kirkpatrick, Chad (Carrie) Kirkpatrick, Amanda Kirkpatrick, April (Preston) Shinn; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 6 to 8 PM at Ralph Robinson & Son.
Graveside services by Ralph Robinson & Son will be Thursday, June 7, 2018, at 10 AM, at Flat Bayou Cemetery, with Reverend Don Nobles officiating.

Mr. Bruce Allen McAllister, 53, of Pine Bluff, AR passed Monday, May 28, 2018. Arrangements will be announced by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR.
Funeral service for Elton Ray Evans, 59 of Pine Bluff, who died May 30, will be held, 11 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018, Antioch MBC, Sherrill, Rev. Larry Kirklin officiating.
He was born November 18, 1958 to the late Jack and Lizzie K. Evans
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Antioch MB Church in Sherrill, Ark., under the leadership of the Late Rev. Eddie Johnson. He was a Baptist.
Elton attended elementary school at Tucker Rosenwald in Tucker, Ark. He graduated from Plum-Bayou Tucker High School in 1977.
He attended and graduated from Pine’s Vocational Technical School (SEARK) in 1979 with a degree in welding.
He was preceded in death by his patents, Jack and Lizzie K. Evans; wife, Sylvia Norful Evans; siblings, Arthur, Grandville, Odis, Rev. George Evans and Annie Evans Gray.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Ray A. Bell and Elton Ray Evans, Jr. both of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one daughter, Krystal K. Evans of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four grandchildren, La’Marion L. Ross, Michael R. Bell, Autumn G. Evans and Kensley B. Hampton all of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two brothers, Eugene (Annie Ruth) Evans of North Little Rock, Lewis (Barbara) Evans of Tucker; three sisters, Rose Evans Strickland Perkins, Princella (Robert) Age both of Pine Bluff and Dianne Hill of England; one uncle, Abraham Carpenter of Grady, Ark.; special friend, Maxine Batson of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The remains will lie in state at the church 10 a.m., Thursday until funeral time. Burial will be in Henson Memorial Garden by Perry Funeral Home.
Family will be at 4007 Little John Drive.
