The Pine Bluff School District’s Freedom Schools Program will give First Ward School a cosmetic makeover during a community service day.
The event will be held at First Ward, 1300 E. Fifth Ave., from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26.
“Freedom School scholars, with the help of the community, will give the First Ward building a cosmetic makeover, improving the landscape of the surrounding community and making the building a great place for scholars to learn, grow, and become productive citizens,” according to a news release.
Pine Bluff’s Freedom School students will engage in discussions on the importance of community service.
“School climate and culture is at the core of any successful school and/or program,” a spokesman said in a news release. “A key part of climate and culture is a building that is conducive and reflective of the learning environment.”
The community is encouraged to join them or make donations to help enhance First Ward school.
