Estella Johnson Dokes celebrated her 90th birthday during a private gala June 9 presented by her family at Pine Bluff.
“We love our mother dearly and we are very proud of her tremendous sacrifices and examples of a real mother’s love,” a family spokesman said in a news release. “She has always been a wonderful homemaker and she enjoys cooking and entertaining her family and friends.”
Born June 9, 1928, at Pastoria, she was a daughter of the late Fannie Sims and Clayton Johnson Sr.
Dokes was married to the late George Lee Dokes Sr. on Jan. 6, 1947, at Pine Bluff. To this union, 12 children were born, George Jr., Charles (deceased), Andrew (deceased), Virginia, Leonard, Vanessa, Reginald, Relador, Vandora, Yolanda, Clayton and Wauketa.
She has 26 grandchildren (four deceased), and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
