Concerts


Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 Cypress St., will host the Southside Singing Union at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 17. Quartet groups will include the Sensational Soul Revivals, Mighty Gospelettes, Christland/Faith of Harmony, Shining Stars, and the White Family.


Mt. Bayou Baptist Church at Altheimer will host a musical benefit for the Lasley Family of Altheimer, whose home was destroyed by fire, and for Barbara Brown Anderson. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 16, sponsored by the Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir.


Father’s Day services


Auburn Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will host its Father’s Day service at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 17. The guest speaker will be the Rev. J.W. Bush, pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at Tarry.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will observe Father’s Day by honoring Mulberry Grove fathers Sunday, June 17, beginning with breakfast after Sunday School. During the 11 a.m. worship service, the guest speaker will be Robert “Bobby” Barnes III, who will be introduced by his son, Robert Barnes IV.


Special services


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host guest speaker, the Rev. Eric Weldon of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, June 17.


Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, 2215 E. Harding Ave., will host the “Revelation Teaching” ministry of Errol James, a pastor from Claremont, Jamaica, at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 17. James and his wife, Peggy, are founders of Faith Christian Fellowship King Center at St. Ann’s Bay.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will host the City Wide Mission meeting at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18.


House of Bread Deliverance Church, 500 S. Main St., will host Missions’ Month, a presentation of the Covenant of Prayer of Churches & Ministries. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 17. A power lunch will be held at noon Tuesday, June 19. The guest speaker will be Peggy James, a pastor with Faith Christian Fellowship Church at St. Ann Bay, Jamaica.


La Renee Ministries is preparing for its first “Godly Women on the Move” Retreat. St. Peter AME Church at McGehee is the host church and the pastor is the Rev. Lanette R. Frazier from Pine Bluff. The service will be held at the Holiday Inn Express at Monticello Friday, July 2, beginning with 6 p.m. registration and 6:30 p.m. program. Saturday, July 28, services are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be L. Denise Jackson and the guest psalmist will be Robin D. Roberts. Advance tickets are $50 until June 27. Naylor United Methodist Church at Vilonia, and the pastor, the Rev. William Ferguson, former pastor of Sherrill United Methodist, will host Naylor’s 150th homecoming/anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 8. Music will be provided by the Kyzer family praise and worship gospel band, “Anchored.” Following the noon meal, “The Faulkner County Singers” will provide the gospel song service. According to Ferguson, Southeast churches would be interested in their program, Women’s Teen Challenge of Arkansas of Russellville, at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 1. Churches and organizations who know troubled young people will be interested in attending or have them come to Southeast Arkansas. Teen Challenge will witness with music and share their testimonies of how the Lord stepped into their lives, rescued them, and turned their lives around.


Vacation Bible School


Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will conduct its Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Refreshments will be served.


Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8523 Princeton Pike, will host its Vacation Bible School from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 18-23, for children and adults.


Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will present its Vacation Bible School from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, June 18-20. For transportation, call 870-536-8627.


First Baptist Church Pine Bluff, 6501 S. Hazel St., will host Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 18-22, for all children from age 4 to those who completed the sixth grade. The week will include Bible study, special activities, learning opportunities and refreshments. The event is free.
