Brookshire Grocery Co. donated $5,000 to the Arkansas Foodbank in support of the 18th annual Summer Cereal Drive sponsored by THV Channel 11.

The donation was presented June 19 during THV11’s live remote broadcast at the Super 1 Foods store at 2800 S. Hazel St. at Pine Bluff.

“The Summer Cereal Drive provides non-perishable breakfast items for children and families in Central Arkansas who would otherwise go without breakfast,” according to a news release.

These stores will continue be collection sites for the cereal drive through June 28: Pine Bluff Super 1 Foods at 5805 Dollarway Road, 1605 E. Harding Ave., 2721 Camden Road and 2800 S. Hazel St.; and Brookshire’s at Arkadelphia, Camden, Crossett and El Dorado.

Donations of dry cereal (boxes or bags, 8 ounces or more), cereal/breakfast bars, oatmeal and other hot cereals are being accepted. Donations can also be made online at ArkansasFoodbank.org.

“We are excited to support the Summer Cereal Drive again this year,” said Brad Brookshire, Chairman and chief executive officer for Brookshire Grocery Co. “Hunger relief is one of our company’s primary focus areas for our charitable giving in our communities. We are proud to partner with THV11 and the Arkansas Foodbank to help provide breakfast for families in need.”
