B.R.A.V.E., the Pine Bluff Black Fire Fighters Association, will host its annual back-to-school giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

Entitled, “Project Fresh Start,” this event will also feature health booths, entertainment and games, according to a news release.

“Over 40 percent of Jefferson County’s children live in poverty, and this year we will provide 3,000 students an opportunity to receive free school supplies for a fresh start to a new school year,” Johnnie L. Brown, B.R.A.V.E. president, said in the release.

The agency thanked its sponsors and volunteers, including Platinum level sponsors: Walmart; The Clinton Foundation; QualChoice and Super 1 Foods; Gold level sponsors: Pine Bluff Convention Center and First Presbyterian Church; and Silver level sponsors: Judge Earnest E. Brown Jr. (Jefferson County Circuit Court, 6th Division); Evergreen Packaging; Delta Dental of Arkansas; Novelties and Simmons First National Bank.

“B.R.A.V.E. works because of the support of the local community. We challenge you and your constituents to join us by becoming a sponsor of this event. Your support will make this worthy cause a success,” according to the release.

All platinum, gold or silver level sponsors will have their logo printed on the Project Fresh Start T-shirts and other ads.

Platinum level sponsorships begin at $2,500; Gold, $1,000; Silver, $500; Bronze, $250; and Honorable Mention, $100.

B.R.A.V.E. will also host its annual All White Party Saturday, June 30, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the conference center of Harbor Oaks Restaurant at Regional Park. Proceeds from the event will go toward B.R.A.V.E.’s annual back-to-school supply giveaway. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

B.R.A.V.E. (Banishing Racial Animosity Vigorously Everywhere), a chapter of the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters, was established in 2003 as a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, according to the release.
