The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved bids recently for improvements to roadways in several Southeast Arkansas counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.


Drew County


The commission approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Drew County to resurface 2.1 miles of selected sections of various city streets in Wilmar to include: McKinstry Avenue, Chestnut Street, Cotner Avenue, North Eighth Street/Bird Avenue/North Sixth Street, Johnson Avenue, West Walnut Street, Gates Avenue, and North Fifth Street/Bird Avenue.


Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff was awarded the contract at $313,329.50. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid 2018.


Dallas County


The highway commission approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Dallas County to resurface selected sections of County Road 58 near Fordyce and County Road 10 near Sparkman.


Jet Asphalt & Rock Co., Inc. of El Dorado was awarded the contract at $193,871.20. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid 2018.


Cleveland County


A Cleveland County project will resurface approximately 1 mile of selected sections of County Road 89 near Randall and 1.2 miles of selected sections of County Road 5 near New Edinburg.


Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff was awarded the contract at $339,315.86. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid 2018.


Bradley County


Improvements to a roadway in Bradley County will level and reseal approximately 6.3 miles of County Road 33 in Pattsville. Improvements will extend from State Highway 160, northward.


C & F Construction Co., Inc. of Smackover was awarded the contract at $241,312.66. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in late 2018.


Grant County


The highway commission approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Grant County to level and reseal approximately 2.2 miles of County Road 2 near Leola. Improvements will begin at State Highway 46 and extend northward.


Salt Creek Paving & Construction Co. Inc. of Benton was awarded the contract at $187,980.65. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in late 2018.
