The Southeast Arkansas Political Animals Club will host Chris Caldwell, Delta Regional Authority federal co-chairman, as its guest speaker.

The meeting will be held at noon Tuesday, July 10, at the Western Sizzlin at Monticello.

Caldwell was appointed by President Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in January 2018, according to a news release.

“We are honored to have Chairman Caldwell speak at our next meeting,” John Davis, chairman of the Southeast Arkansas Political Animals Club, said in the release. “Since the agency’s creation, the DRA has played a vital role in the economic development of our region. We look forward to welcoming Chairman Caldwell to our club and learning what he sees the future holding for the Delta Regional Authority and Southeast Arkansas.”

Caldwell previously served as the director of special projects for Sen. John Boozman (R-AR). He was the campaign manager for Boozman’s 2016 re-election campaign and political director for Boozman’s 2010 Senate campaign. He served on other campaigns, including then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s 2008 presidential bid and then-Arkansas Sen. Tim Hutchinson’s 2002 Senate campaign, according to the release.

The Delta Regional Authority helps to create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of the 10 million people who reside in the 252 counties and parishes of the eight-state Delta region, according to the release.

“Led by the Delta Regional Authority Board-comprised of the federal co-chairman and the governors of the eight states, the Delta Regional Authority fosters local and regional partnerships that address economic and social challenges to ultimately strengthen the Delta economy and the quality of life for Delta residents,” according to the release.

The Southeast Arkansas Political Animals Club is a non-partisan group for people who seek civil discussion of political and policy issues impacting the region, state and nation. There are no membership fees and all are welcome.
