Anniversaries


Freedom Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Brian K. Dodson and Jackie Dodson, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Aaron Barnes, pastor of New Home Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East at White Hall, will celebrate its 144th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Cecil Williams of St. John AME Church at Pine Bluff.


Bethel New Bethel Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the pastor and wife, Roosevelt Simmons Jr. and Shannon Simmons, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest minister will be Terry Brown, pastoral assistant/adult ministries pastor at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church at Jacksonville, Fla.


The Church of the Living God, 3120 Gravel Pit Road, at White Hall, will celebrate the 38th appreciation service of its pastor and wife, Elder Theodis and Bobbie Edwards, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Pernell Maxwell, pastor of Clayton Chapel Baptist Church at Sherwood.


Concerts/Musicals


The Dumas Singing Center at Dumas will host the 10th anniversary of the Heavenly Hearts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14. Featured guests will be Voices for Christ of Texarkana, Texas, along with other area ministries. At 6 p.m. Sunday, July 15, services will continue at the First Missionary Baptist Church at Gould. Singers will include the Heavenly Hearts, Bob Holloway and the Southern Sons, Barnes Brothers and Mighty Imperials.


Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church, 706 Cypress St., will host the Southside Singing Union at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15. Guests will include the Sensational Soul Revivers, Mighty Gospelettes, Christland/Voices of Harmony and Gloriettes.


Olive Branch Baptist Church, 5130 Bobo Road, will host a gospel concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 14. The LeFevre Quartet will perform in the free concert.


Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will host the first night of the 48th anniversary of the Spiritualettes at 7 p.m. Friday, July 13. Guests include Mt. Nebo Mass Choir, Mighty Gospelettes, Heavenly Hearts of Gould, and Old St. James Praise Dancers and Choir. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, services at Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road, will include Morgan Monk, New Jerusalem Mass Choir of Dumas, and Men of Purpose of Little Rock. At 6 p.m. Sunday, July 15, the anniversary will be held at Old St. James Baptist Church, 1307 E. 16th Ave. Featured guests will include Patrick Hollis & United of Olive Branch, Miss., the Kaiser Singers of Yazoo, Miss., and the Wilson Singers of Tchula, Miss. Admission is free and the community is invited to attend.


Men’s/women’s programs


Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Reeker St., will observe its annual women’s day beginning with a brunch and talent show at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14. At 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 15, the pastor, the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr., will speak, and Brandi Johnson will direct the choir. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Irene Holcomb, a member of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, and retired member of the Pine Bluff City Council. The guest choir director will be Angela Thomas-Adams of New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will present its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Larry Battles, pastor of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate women’s day Sunday, July 15. At 11 a.m., services will be held at Jerusalem #2 Church, 12th Avenue and Poplar Street, and the guest speaker will be Yvette Graydon, first lady at Greater First Baptist Church at Pine Bluff. At 3 p.m., services will be held at at Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., and the guest speaker will be Sheila Bobo of Christ Temple Church at Pine Bluff.


Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., will celebrate is men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The featured speaker will be the bishop, K.D. Mixon of Victory Faith Church.


A Place of Hope Christian Center, 917 Scull St., will host the 2018 women’s conference from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14. Guest speakers will be Olandera Dunn of Highland Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, and Taniesha Richardson Wiley of Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock. At 11 a.m. Sunday, July 15, the speaker will be Brenda Gray, a minister at A Place of Hope.


Revivals


Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson and Mt. Pleasant Church will host a joint revival at Happy Home at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 18-20. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. David Smith of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church on U.S. 425 South will host revival with the following speakers at 7 p.m. on these dates: Monday, July 16, the Rev. Daryl Graydon of Greater First Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff; Tuesday, July 17, the Rev. Willie Laws of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer; and Wednesday, July 18, the Rev. Leroy Spears of Union Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host guest speaker, the Rev. Joseph Westbrook of New Light Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, July 15.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will host its annual mission day at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Thelmon Williams of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


First Baptist Church at Ladd will conduct its mission ministry program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Anthony Walker, pastor of Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3004 S. Kentucky St., will host a church fellowship at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Vernell Racy, pastor of New Grace Beginnings of Gans, Okla. New Grace will provide music.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will celebrate its annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest minister will be the Rev. James Barnes, pastor of New St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Vacation Bible School

Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will present its annual youth day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Julius McDade Sr., pastor of New Direction Baptist Church.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 S. Texas St., will celebrate its annual youth day and honor its graduates and other youth at the 11 a.m. service Sunday, July 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. LaDale S. Higgins, youth minister at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.
