A three-run home run by Grant Mathieu and a three-run double by Vandross Callahan started and ended a nine-run first inning that propelled Louisiana to an 11 to 6 win Sunday over Arkansas in an elimination bracket game at the 2018 Little League Baseball Southwest Region Tournament in Waco, Texas.

Christian Cornal took over on the mound for Arkansas after seven batters in the first and silenced the South Lake Charles bats until two outs in the fourth when he had to leave the game because of the pitch limit rule. Meanwhile, his White Hall teammates attempted to mount a comeback as Jace Jackson keyed a five-run Arkansas fourth inning with a three-run double.

Louisiana though would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and Miles LaDoux pitched around two singles in the top of the sixth to keep Louisiana alive in the double-elimination tournament.
