LITTLE ROCK – The main entrance to the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital (Little Rock VA hospital) is temporarily closing for construction beginning Saturday, Sept. 1. The entry will be closed for up to two months.
The south entrance – closest to Interstate 630 – will be the main entry point during the construction, according to a news release.
As part of the main entry closure at McClellan Memorial, patient parking will shift to the south to accommodate easier entry into the facility through the south entrance. Lots A and B (director and physician parking) will be open to veterans and the public. Lot C and main parking will remain open. Handicap parking has been added to an area close to the south entrance and may be accessed by Lots B and C, according to the news release.
The construction will affect the main entrance hallway and access to the emergency department from the facility’s Green Atrium. The exterior emergency department entry will remain open but there will be no access to the Green Atrium, according to the release.
McClellan is undergoing a modernization project on the first floor as part of a long-term project to improve the veterans’ experience at the VA. Once the main entrance area is complete, the Red Atrium near the south entrance will also be refurbished, according to the release.
