Macediona Missionary Baptist Church near Tarry will celebrate the third anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. John and Merle Bush, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Anthony Walker, pastor of Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by the congregation.


Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will celebrate its 97th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Clark E. Thomas, pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.


St. Peter AME Church at McGehee will host the appreciation of its pastor, the Rev. Lanette R. Frazier, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Shalane Jenkins of Bethel AME Chuch at Fountain Hill.


Word of Faith Baptist Church, 1108 S. Poplar St., will celebrate the 12th anniversary for the pastor and wife, Henry Land Jr. and Verna Land at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The keynote speaker will be Willie Edwards, pastor of International House of Praise, accompanied by his congregation.


A Place of Hope Christian Center, 917 Scull St., will hold a pastoral anniversary for its ministers, Kenneth and Brenda Gray, and a family and friends day celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. Featured guests will be the Rising Star Church of Sherwood.


New Derrissaux Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Freddie L. Webb and Kathy P. Webb, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. Service will be held at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St. The guest speaker will be the Rev. LeArthur Shelton, pastor of Open Door Christian Church, along with his congregation. Singers will include the Webb Sisters, Fredrick Webb, Men in Black, Sons of Glory and the Haywood Sisters.


Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Reeker St., will commemorate the 16th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr. and LaDawn Barnes, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The featured speaker will be the Rev. David Smith, pastor of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host the worship services of the Pastoria Singing Union at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.


Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will observe the Young People’s/Young Adult Choir annual at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.


Mulberry Baptist Church at Altheimer will host the Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir’s musical benefit program for Carol Key and Columbus Holmes. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25.


Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at Wabbaseka will observe its annual choir day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be Kazmira Davis, first lady of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. Other guests will include St. Mark members.


Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the Battle Chapel Mass Choir at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Accie Reynolds of First Baptist Church of the Ladd community.

Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will host its annual women’s day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be Angela Roby of New Life Church.


Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will observe its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The Rev. Donald Manning will be the guest speaker. Southeast Arkansas Male Chorus will be the guest choir.


Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will observe its seventh annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be Cora Withers, first lady of Living Waters Church of God in Christ at Hot Springs.


New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will host is annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be Jacqueline Washington of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church at Dumas. Bessie Lancelin will direct the women’s day choir.


Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 W. 13th Ave., will host a women’s retreat at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Special guests will be Willie May Perking, a missionary from Los Angles, California, and Lola B. Perry of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.


Revival


Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 W. 13th Ave., will hold a teaching revival at 7 p.m. Sunday through Friday, Aug. 26-31. The guest speaker will be Willie May Perking, a missionary from Los Angles, California. The women’s department is the sponsor.


Special events


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will host the pastoral pre-anniversary program for the Rev. Stanley Blair, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The guest speaker will be the Rev. C.L. Williams, pastor of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will host its educators’ appreciation at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. All school personnel in the community will be honored at the start of the new academic school year. The guest speaker will be Kourtney Smith, a minister at Destiny Worship Center of Pine Bluff and choral director in the Dollarway School District.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host its annual ushers’ brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Edward Parker of First Baptist Church at DeWitt. The Rev. Royce Jackson Jr. of the Spiritual Wings of Joy will sing.

Union Grove Baptist Church at Dumas will host the annual ushers’ and singing convention of the Big Creek and Reedville District. Services begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24. At 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, the ushers’ convention begins with the district usher president, the Rev. Brahmes Jackson, presiding. At 1 p.m. Saturday, the singing program begins with the district director, Alma Mallett presiding. At 4 p.m., the concert will be held.
