Brenda Doucey, newly elected president of the Progressive Women’s Association, welcomed everyone to the recent association meeting.


The meeting and pot luck luncheon were held at the White Hall Museum. Alice Erwin’s food group was in charge of the luncheon which featured barbeque sandwiches. The room was decorated using “Back to School” decor. The newly installed slate of officers are: President Brenda Doucey, Vice President Alice Erwin, Secretary Linda Hurd, and Treasurer Jan Adam.


Bernice Foster, scholarship chairwoman, reminded everyone of the Fall Scholarship Auction. The event is scheduled for Nov. 2 at the White Hall City Hall. The group is also raffling off an afghan, made by Hurd, as a fundraiser. Tickets are being sold by members. The drawing for the afghan will take place at the auction.


Scholarship recipients are Megan Tyler, Emily Grace Welch, Camryn Williams and Sabrina Self.


Dottie Yarbrough, community service chairwoman, thanked everyone for donating school supplies for the TOPPS program at Townsend Park Elementary School.


The Dollar Pot was won by Doucey, who donated it back to the group. Birthday presents were won by Linda Eifling, Dilbeck, Mary Jo Wilson, and Foster. Door prizes were won by Yarbrough, Pat Hooks and Hurd.


Members celebrating birthdays in August are Shirley Davis, Hooks, Margie Murphy, Nancy Rosen and Jan Adam. Missy Rosen, daughter of member Nancy Rosen, was a guest at the meeting.
