Anniversaries


Truth and Love Worship Center Church of God in Christ, 2006 W. 13th Ave., will host its 33rd Victory Celebration beginning with a praise fest at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1. BG Whyte, a minister and recording artist from Pine Bluff, will be among guests. The event will include praise dancers, singers, booths, free refreshments and give aways. Elder Tyree Scott of St. Louis will be the primary speaker Saturday and at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. At 3 p.m. Sunday, the speaker for the main service will be Elder Jordan Houston of Memphis.


Bold Pilgrim/Isaac Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of McGehee will celebrate the first appreciation service of the pastor, the Rev. Raymond Jenkins Sr., at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. The Rev. Larry Jordan, a pastor from Texarkana, will be the featured speaker. Guests will also include the Rev. C.L. Williams, pastor of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Rock of Faith Covenant of Churches and Ministries’ apostle, Rufus Dennis, and the pastor, Frankie Dennis, will celebrate Rock of Faith’s fifth anniversary and host its Destiny Conference at 5103 Malcomb St. Conference times, dates and speakers include: 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, Craig Banks, apostle of Canaan Christian Center at Pine Bluff; 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, Vera A. Brown, a pastor of Douglassville, Texas; and 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, Jennifer M. Phillips, an apostle of Shreveport, Louisiana. Conference services are free, however attendees may pay a registration fee of $25 to receive a conference bag. Also, at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Apostle’s Banquet, a black tie affair, will be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The speaker will be Steven Daniels, a bishop of Atlanta, Texas. The banquet fee is $25.


St. Andrew A.M.E. Church, 701 Franklin St., will celebrate its 75th anniversary and homecoming program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. The guest preacher will be Bishop Michael L. Mitchell, presiding prelate of the 12th Episcopal District, comprised of Arkansas and Oklahoma AME churches. A citywide mass choir will sing.


Concerts/musicals


The Heart 2 Heart annual Outside Gospel Fest will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at West Seventh Avenue and Juniper Street at Pine Bluff. Participants will include Stacy Bohannon, Brothers of Redemption, Heavenly Hearts, Johnson Family, Humble Hearts, CW Gospel Singers, Father & Son, Nu-Image, Men of Faith and the Rev. Brad Williams.


Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 S. Apple St., will host the White Family’s 37th anniversary celebration. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, singers will include the White Family, the Rev. J.C. Kimble and guest groups. At 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, the guest speaker will be the Rev. Jessie Jackson. Various gospel singers will participate. Groups are asked to register at the door if they want to sing. Dinner will be served after the Sunday night program.


The monthly quartet union at Family Time Baptist Church and Ministry is canceled for September.


Men’s/women’s programs


New Morning Star Baptist Church at Altheimer will host its annual women’s day observance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. The guest speaker will be Robbie Williams, first lady of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff. Women’s day choir rehearsal will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at New Morning Star.


Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 S. Main St., will hold its annual men’s and women’s day Sunday, Sept. 2. At 10 a.m., the guest speaker for Women in Action will be Melissa Henry-Mack. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker for Men in Action will be M.L. Clay, pastor of Anointed Praise and Worship Ministries at Conway.


Revivals


Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Tucker will continue the Tucker Community revival at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, featuring Clarence Giles, a prophet. Revival began Aug. 29.


Special events


Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 S. Main St., will host Encounter 2018 at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5. The guest evangelist will be Paul Dade, a prophet from Richmond, Virginia.


Holy Deliverance Church, 3109 S. Main St., and pastor, Louise Lyas, will present the “Pray and Slay Crusade” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2.


International House of Praise, 4511 Faucett Road, will host its family and friends day at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. The guest speaker will be Gregory Smith, pastor of the City of Love Outreach & Restoration Church of Pine Bluff.
