Anniversaries/Appreciations


New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 N. Lindell St., will celebrate the 12th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Don Zell and Ardelia Jones, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Ken Daniel, pastor of Solomon Hill Baptist Church. Dinner will be served.


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will commemorate the 18th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Edward and Pamela Demery at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The featured speaker will be the Rev. James Murry, pastor of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, accompanied by the ushers. Dinner will be served after service.


Grace Independent Baptist Church, 3320 W. 34th Ave., will celebrate the 23rd pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Robert L. Hart and Deirdre C. Lattimore Hart, as well as the church’s anniversary. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, and the pastor will deliver the sermon.


Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will celebrate the 28th anniversary of the pastor, the Rev. Kenneth E. Jones Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.R. Ramey, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Mitchellville.


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3004 S. Kentucky St., will celebrate its 143rd anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The guest minister will be the Rev. Micheal Williams Sr., pastor of Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries.


First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, 6501 S. Hazel St., will celebrate its 165th anniversary and homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 7. The former pastor, the Rev. Gordon Topping, will be the guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. From 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, the church will host an open house and refreshments will be available.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin Place, will celebrate the seventh anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Charlie Rogers. An appreciation program honoring the pastor’s wife, Gwendolyn Rogers, will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, and the guest speaker will be Jeanette Cartwright, pastor of Zion Family Ministries. Sunday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be T.R. Brown, associate minister of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be the Rev. Roy Thomas, pastor of Eudora Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


Barnes Temple Church of God In Christ, 10301 Princeton Pike, will celebrate the 38th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Willie J. Brown and Cakneller Brown. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, the guest speaker will be Hayward Battles, pastor of Faith Temple and Eagle Rock Churches of God In Christ. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, the guest speaker will be Brandon Clay, pastor of Main Street Church of God In Christ.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., will observe its 118th anniversary, Sunday, Oct. 7. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be the Rev. Jimmy L. Fisher, Sr., New Jerusalem’s interim pastor. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Steven E. King, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Concerts/Musicals


Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will host their 12th annual Inspirational Adult Choir Concert in memory of the late pastor, the Rev. Walter C. May Sr. Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7.


Heart 2 Heart Ministries will host the annual Harvest Festival, an outdoor gospel event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, on the parking lot of the Grady Elementary School. Guests will include Soldiers 4 Christ, John Humphrey and the Gospel Miracles, Voices of Deliverance, the Johnson Family and Heavenly Hearts. Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the Union Night of the Pine Bluff Quartet Local at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. Singers will include Men In Christ, Union Choir, Spiritualettes and Mighty True Lights.


Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will host its women’s day rehearsals of the Fellowship Women’s Choir at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10.


Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host its choir annual at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The guest director will be Bessie Lancelin. The guest organists will be Jamal Gordon and Shirley Smith. The guest percussionist will be Frankie Greer.


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will host rehearsals for its women’s day choir at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, and Thursday, Oct. 11. The choir coordinator is Shell Marks.


Men’s/women’s programs


St. James United Methodist Church, 900 N. University, will present its women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. Music will be provided by a special women’s day choir. A reception will follow the program. The guest speaker will be Cleo Cooper first lady of Mount Gale Missionary Baptist Church at Conway. She is the wife of a pastor, the Rev. Forrest C. Cooper, and the mother of two daughters, Chassidy and Carli Cooper. For the past 20 years, she has devoted herself to ministry by sharing her personal testimony and teaching others to have faith and stand on God’s word, a spokesman said.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will observe its men’s and women’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Woodrow Jackson Sr. of New United Missionary Baptist Church.


Auburn Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will observe its men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Archie Dolls of West Side Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will present its annual women’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The featured speaker will be Phyllis Talbert of Full Counsel Ministries Metro Church at North Little Rock.


Rhema Redemption International Ministries, 1201 W. Sixth Ave., will host the The I Am Her Conference at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, at Pine Bluff. Divinity Ministries will host the event at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at 500 School Drive at Grady. The guest presenter will be Felicia S. Cunningham of Atlanta, Georgia, author of “I am Her.” The sixth of 12 children, Cunningham grew up in extreme poverty. Her faith in Jesus led her to be a conqueror, according to a spokesman.


Revivals


Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave., will hold its fall revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 8-12. The featured evangelist will be the Rev. Billy Artis, pastor of Mt. Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church on U.S. 425 South in the Ladd community will present its annual ushers’ ministry program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alvin S. Newburn II, pastor of Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Yorktown, accompanied by his congregation. Guests will also include Georgia Murray of First Missionary Baptist Church.


DestinyToBeChosen Ministries will present S.T.A.N.D (Students Take a New Direction) at Hands on International Church, 5103 Malcomb St. At 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, the guest speaker will be Semaj Brown, a minister.
