Little Rock Parkview overcame a 14-0 first quarter deficit and cruised to a 49-22 win over the Watson Chapel Wildcats on Friday night. Watson Chapel (1-4-1, 0-3) jumped out to a 6-0 lead on its first possession when quarterback Devin Curry found wideout Kevin Compton for a 72-yard touchdown pass.
The ‘Cats then blocked a Patriot punt and recovered the ball at the Parkview 48-yard line. Curry would again find Compton with an 18-yard scoring strike, then Curry added the conversion run for a 14-0 lead at the end of the first. Parkview would start its scoring on the ensuing kickoff when Geary Allmon would return the kick 80 yards to cut the lead in half after the first of Giovanny Revuelta’s seven PAT’s on the night.
The Wildcats were forced to turn the ball over on their next two drives, and Parkview (3-3, 3-0) would score on an eight-yard run by Demetrius Feemster and another on an Allmon 10-yard run to give the Patriots a 21-14 halftime lead. The third quarter and early fourth would become the Thomas McCauley show as he increased the Patriot lead on three rushing touchdowns.
McCauley scored on runs of 3, 22, and 10 yards to push the lead to 42-22 with 10:24 left in the game. Chapel would score at the end of the third to pull within 35-22 on a Curry to Tehki Urquhart nine-yard pass.
Curry’s two-point run would be the last of the Wildcats scoring. Jonathon Campos tacked on a six-yard run of his own for Parkview with 7:30 to go in the game to close out the scoring. Watson Chapel will travel up the freeway next Friday as they take on the White Hall Bulldogs. White Hall defeated Beebe on Friday night 42-0 to improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the 5A Central.
