Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will celebrate the anniversary of its pastor and wife, Kirby L. Gulley and Neshia Gulley, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Ronald Young, pastor of Faithful Temple Church at Little Rock.


Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its 108th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Barnes, pastor of New St. James Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E. Fifth Ave., will celebrate the second pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Christopher Briggs and family at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Special guests will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and his congregation.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will host its 102nd anniversary Sunday, Nov. 11. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Willie Laws, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Isaac Barnes Sr., pastor of First Baptist Church at Gould.


St. John AME Church, 1117 N. Pullen St., will celebrate its 150th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be Bishop Michael Leon Mitchell, presiding prelate of the 12th Episcopal AME District.


New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will celebrate its 99th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Amelio P. Howard, pastor of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church.


Eternal Life Ministries, 503 Pryce St., will observe the 27th anniversary of the bishop, Dennis Holly, and pastor, Bernice Holly, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will commemorate its 149th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Brian Dodson, pastor of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


Allen Temple AME Church, 1123 Virginia St., will commemorate its 135th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Cheryle Highsmith, pastor of St. Andrew AME Church. A citywide mass choir will sing.


Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will observe its 118th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kevin Crumpton Sr., pastor of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation. Pilgrim’s choir will sing.


New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will observe its 162nd anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Otis Christopher Neloms, pastor of First Baptist Church of Courtland, Alabama, accompanied by his congregation.


Concerts/Musicals


Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 Persimmon St., will host the 62nd anniversary of the KCAT Gospel Caravan at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Samuel Criss is the president and Ruby Criss is the secretary. Guests will include the Pastoria Singing Union, Morris Chapel Church Choir, Motley Chapel Church Choir, White Family, Mighty Truelights and New Sensational Soul Revivals. The caravan can be heard Sundays at 8:30 a.m. on radio station KCAT 1340 AM.


First Baptist Church (Dew Drop), 1701 N. Bryant St., will present its 23rd choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kevin Daley, pastor of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock, accompanied by his congregation. The guest musician will be Lisa Freeman of First Missionary Baptist Church and guest singers include the Yard Voices of Praise of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.


Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will host the fifth anniversary celebration of the Men In Christ (Southern Gentlemen) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10-11. Featured groups will include Faith of Harmony, Pure Purpose, Soldiers 4 Christ, Nu Image, Spiritualettes, Heavenly Hearts, Mighty Gospelettes, Humble Hearts, Johnson Family and Sensational Soul Revivals.


Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will host the musical benefit for Dionne Walker Goodloe and family and for Joyce Thomas Vance. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and the sponsor is the Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir.


Men’s/Women’s programs


Mt Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will observe men’s day Sunday, Nov. 11. At 11 a.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. Cornelius D. Wade, evangelism minister at St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Christopher Goodman, pastor of Pilgrim Rest AME Church at Monticello, along with his congregation. Pilgrim Rest choir will sing.


Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries will present its women’s conference beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, with guest speakers including Andrea Johnson, Tess Howard and Vivian Murry-Evans. A 9 a.m. Sunday Nov. 11, the guest speaker will be Brenda Cline of Victory In Jesus Apostolic Church of Killeen, Texas, and guest singer will be Michelle Johnson of Pine Bluff. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Felicia Phillips, a minister of Redeeming Christian Church #1 at Forrest City. The guest choir director will be Jeanette Moore of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Rhema Redemption International Ministries (RIM), 1201 W. Sixth Ave., will host a women’s prayer breakfast Saturday, Nov. 10, starting with registration at 10 a.m. and prayer at 11 a.m. Participants will include guest speaker, Paulette Walker, first lady and missionary of Solomon Temple Church at Sherrill, along with the host apostle, Robbie Henry of RIM.


Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will present its women’s conference from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. The guest speaker will be Jacqueline Washington of St. Peter’s Rock Church at Dumas.


Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will present its women’s conference at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, featuring speakers Betty Craig, Mary Caldwell and Shawn Mitchell. On Sunday, Nov. 11, women’s day begins at 11 a.m. and the guest speaker will be Eva Sample of Liberty Hill. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be Goldie Whitaker of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church.


Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will celebrate its women’s day beginning with the annual brunch at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Guest speakers will be Lakisha Johnson of Canaan Christian Center and Terri Ingram of the Potter’s House at Dallas, Texas. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, the special speaker will be Gracie Jackson of Old Morning Star and the guest choir director will be Bessie Lancelin.


Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road, will host its annual men’s day celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Graylin Wilson, pastor of Second Baptist Church at Wabbaseka. The Southeast Arkansas Male Chorus will sing.


Special events


Mt. Olive AME Church in the Tarry community will present its Veteran’s Appreciation Program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The featured speaker will be Pamela Carlisle, a retired chief warrant officer 3, with the U.S. Marines. All current and former members of any military branch and their families are invited to attend.


Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will hold the ordination service for a minister, the Rev. Luther James Jackson, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.R. Ramey, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Mitchellville.


Love Fellowship and Deliverance Church of God in Christ, 411 S. Oleander St., will host its family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The special guest will be the Rev. A.L. Walker, pastor of Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church.


Kings Highway Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will observe its nurses’ and ushers’ ministry annual day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Special guests will be the Rev. Charles Helloms Jr., pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Ladd community, along with his congregation.


Pine Bluff #1 District Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Trinity Annex Building, 2900 W. Sixth Ave. The silent auction begins at 6 p.m. Kimberley Moye’ of First Trinity Church of God in Christ will be the guest speaker.
