A Monday afternoon shootout between two robbery suspects and two Pine Bluff pawn shop workers ended with the owner of the shop being killed, according to the Pine Bluff Police Department.

Brandon McHan, 34, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley. Another clerk, whose name has not been released by police, was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

PBPD spokesman Richard Wegner said police were dispatched at around 5:30 p.m. Monday to the Big Buck Pawn Shop at 2408 S. Camden Road after a report that shots were being fired there.

Wegner said that shortly after 5:30 p.m., several more calls came in to the dispatch center saying that multiple shots were being fired over an extended period of time.

“Two suspects entered the store, presumably a robbery gone bad, and exchanged gunfire with the clerks,” he said.

In a news release issued early Tuesday morning,  Wegner said at least one of the suspects "entered the store and there was an exchange of gunfire between Mr. McHan and at least one suspect. After both suspects fled the store on foot the other victim came to the aid of Mr. McHan. Within a couple of minutes, both suspects returned to the store and entered again. This time the other victim used Mr. McHan’s firearm to exchange gunfire with both suspects this time. At some point during this incident, the other victim was shot in the chin, abdomen and hand."

No other details are being made available at this time.
