Anniversaries


St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 S. Georgia St., will celebrate its 149th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Frederick S. Anthony, pastor of Old St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at West Memphis.


Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 W. 13th Ave., will celebrate its annual appreciation service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Don Hawkins, pastor of Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.


New United Baptist Church, 5601 Cheatham Ave., will host the 21st anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Woodrow Jackson Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be the Rev. J.L. Morton, pastor of Mt. Moriah Church at Dumas.


Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will present the first appreciation service of the assistant pastor and wife, Elder George and Gloria Jordan, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Freddie Heard, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Grady.


The City of Love Outreach & Restoration Church will honor the pastor and wife, Gregory and Valerie Smith, beginning with an “Elevation Celebration” Banquet and Service at 6 p.m. Saturday Dec. 8, at Harbor Oaks Restaurant. The guest speaker will be the Rev. William Shaw, pastor of Pleasant View Ministries Church. Services on Sunday, Dec. 9, begin at 11 a.m. in the Plaza Hotel’s Saracen Room. The guest speaker will be Donnell Walder, pastor of Church on Fire Connecting Center. At 3 p.m., service will be held at International House of Praise and the guest speaker will be Brenda Jefferson, an apostle of Covenant Faith Praise & Worship Center.


Concerts/Musicals


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3004 S. Kentucky St., will host rehearsals for the Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir’s Songs of Praise 68 Concert. Rehearsals will be held at 7 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 14, 21 and 28. All musicians, choir members and interested new members are urged to attend. Richardson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Tamo will celebrate its choir anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Sherman Rochelle, pastor of Sneed Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold its annual winter musical at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The event will feature Men in Black and the Voices of Deliverance.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will host the benefit musical for the pastor, the Rev. Fred Johnson, and for Merlin Laws at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Sponsored by the Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir, the event will also include W.O.W. (Women of Worship) singers.


St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will present its annual Christmas Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The special guest will be Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Altheimer.


Full Faith Christian Center, 1320 E. 17th Ave., will host its musician’s appreciation at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.


St. Andrew A.M.E. Church, 701 Franklin St., will celebrate its annual choir program at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Special guests will be the Spiritualettes and soloists, Mattie Johnson, J.C. Kimble and Eugene King.


Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 W. Third Ave., will host “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The Chancel Choir and readers from Trinity church will present the service of scripture and song. Faron Wilson, organist and choirmaster, will direct the music.


Union Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will host the 46th anniversary of the Webb Sisters gospel singers at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. Singers will include the Rev. Travis Jackson and the Spiritual Sonz of Fordyce, Hearts of Paradise and Soldiers 4 Christ. The Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.


Special events


Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will present its annual hospitality fellowship program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Willie Laws Sr., pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, along with his congregation.


Evangelistic Outreach Church and Ministries, 620 L.A. Prexy Davis Dr., will host the apostolic prophetic deliverance service of Tracy Shavers Ministries at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Guests will include an apostle, Derrick Stephens, and June Stephens, a prophetess, from Prayer Center International at Little Rock.


Turning Point International Outreach Ministry, 508 S. Mulberry St., will hold the prophetic prayer conference 2018, hosted by Susan Gray, an apostle of Remnant Outreach Ministry. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Guests will include the Refuge Church and Living Word Outreach Ministry.


Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will host its friends and family day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest ministers will be the Rev. Daryl Graydon of Greater First Baptist Church and the Rev. Brandon Dryer, pastor Lampkin Chapel Baptist Church.


Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church at Altheimer will present its 40th calendar drive program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alonzo Jiles of New Horizons International Ministries at Judsonia.


Revivals


God’s Way Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1601 Commerce Road, will host its end-of-the year revival at 7 p.m. Dec 12-14, with the following ministers: Wednesday, Damion Griffin of God’s Way church; Thursday, Perry Hayes of Happy Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson; and Friday, Sandrel Johnson, prophetess of the Based on Truth Church at Pine Bluff.


Women’s Day


Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will have its annual women’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The guest speaker will be Joni M Alexander, Pine Bluff Ward 1 alderwoman-elect and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
