The Pine Bluff City Celebration Committee will host Family Fun Day starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the amphitheater area at Regional Park.

Family Fun Day is the continuation of the city’s 175th anniversary event last year. The main goal of this committee is to raise funds for incentives and scholarships for youth.

Saturday’s event starts at 10 a.m. with the opening ceremony and announcements, registration of teams and competitions at 11 a.m. in tug-o-war, horseshoes, basketball, volleyball and an obstacle course. At 5 p.m. there will be the high school talent contest.

During the day there will be bands and DJ music. The event will close at 8 p.m. with a fireworks show. Also scheduled is a celebrity dunking booth, hot-dog-eating contest, chicken-wing-eating contest and four different age groups in a hula hoop competition.

Residents may also visit with friends in the tailgating area, where free food will be available.

This is a free admission event, thanks to the title sponsor, Relyance Bank and other companies, individuals, and organizations, a spokesman said.
