A Jefferson County man was shot to death Thursday morning after an alleged domestic disturbance on Cornerstone Road and a 75-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Sheriff’s Department Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr. said Tabius Love, 23, was found with a gunshot wound when deputies arrived at 13406 Cornerstone Road after receiving a call at about 9:40 a.m. Love was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory at Little Rock for an autopsy.

Woods said the initial investigation indicated that Love had gotten involved in an argument with his girlfriend, Misty Nutt, who lived at the trailer with her grandmother, Anna Nutt. Her grandfather, Billy Nutt, also lived there.

Billy Nutt, 75, allegedly grabbed a .22-caliber handgun and fired a shot, striking Love. Woods said the gun was recovered at the scene.

Billy Nutt was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Criminal Investigations Office where he was interviewed, then taken to the W. C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center where he was booked on probable cause of first-degree murder, pending further investigation and the filing of formal charges by the prosecuting attorney’s office.

Nutt is expected to appear in court for a probable cause hearing Friday morning.
